Northwest RCOG Wins WIA Bid

On May 18, 2010, the Northwest Missouri Workforce Investment Board awarded contracts for the Next Generation Career Center (NGCC) program.  The NGCC, which brings together the Adult and Dislocated Worker components of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), is a new model being rolled out across Missouri's WIB regions in an effort to not only standardize workforce programs, but also increase efficiency in light of reduced state revenues and subsequent budget reductions.  The Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments is happy to announce it has been awarded the FY2011 NGCC contract for the northwest Missouri subregion (Atchison, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway, and Worth counties).

The Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments has been an active partner with the Northwest Missouri WIB for a number of years, operating nearly every program of the WIA at one time or another.  The Regional Council currently operates the Dislocated Worker program and the Career Assistance Program.  As a result of the successful bid, the Regional Council will adding the Adult worker program to its workforce development division.  For more information about workforce development in northwest Missouri, contact Kim Mildward, director of workforce development, at 582-8980.
